Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
- Status of DBT on Fertilizer:
The government introduced the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system for w.e.f. fertilizers. introduced. October 2016 Under the Pupuk DBT scheme, fertilizer companies receive a 100% subsidy for various classes of fertilizer based on actual sales by beneficiary retailers. All subsidized fertilizers are sold to farmers/buyers through Point of Sale (PoS) devices installed in every retail store and beneficiaries are identified with Aadhaar cards, KCC, voter cards etc. Various states/U.T.s are in go-live mode w.e.f. started. 09/01/2017 and pan-India launch will be completed by March 2018.
A project monitoring body was established in the fertilizer department, which exclusively monitors DBT implementation. 24 country coordinators have been appointed in all states to oversee ongoing DBT activities. Implementation of DBT in fertilization systems requires the use of PoS devices in each retail store and training of retailers to operate PoS devices. Across the country, Leading Fertilizer Suppliers (LFS) have conducted 10,878 training sessions so far. 2.26 lakh PoS devices have been deployed across the state.
